This is speedy. He is a leopard gecko and he is our school pet.

We have had Speedy since he was a baby. Time flies! He has joined our school for almost 5 months. He is growing stronger every day and his colour is getting brighter and he is getting bolder. Can you see his skin is yellow with irregular black spots? These types of geckos get their name from their appearance that resembles the coat pattern of a leopard.

Here’s some fun facts: Leopard geckos have moveable eyelids and they can shed their skin. They store fat and nutrients in their tails and they can also detach their tales to defend themselves. They are omnivores and like to eat insects and fruit. They use sounds and movement to communicate.

Speedy lives up to his name as he sure can move fast!
