Dear Parents/Guardians, Teachers, Staff and Students,

In the coming five years, ‘Dream Big, Fly High’ will be the guiding vision for our school’s development. As we have invested heavily in innovation and technology education recently, particularly on ‘Dream Big Days’ held in the afternoon ‘Creative Fun Learning Sessions’, our students’ problem-solving skills and exploration coverage in science field have improved through the STEAM and astronomy courses in all levels. We have begun integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning, enabling students to harness technology to enhance both their interest and effectiveness in classroom learning, self-directed learning and assessments. To further promote students’ learning capabilities, our school-based lesson enhancement plan was introduced to help teachers design high-quality lessons, engage in peer lesson observations and conduct collaborative evaluations.

‘The Star Shining Day’ within ‘Creative Fun Learning Sessions’ centres around the initiative of ‘Just Feel Programme’, supported by our school-based growth education and career planning curricula. It aims to strengthen students’ social-emotional development and foster communication skills, promoting holistic well-being in body, mind, and spirit. We have also joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme to help students prepare for life planning and financial management this coming year.

In response to the Education Bureau’s latest Primary Education Curriculum Guide, we have introduced a new full-day schedule with our refined assessment and values education policies. Our school has established a school-based core values framework, which is well received by parents and recognised by the Education Bureau. We are honoured to have invited Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education, last year to look into our curriculum design and contributions in values education, national identity, and national security education. Dr. Choi highly commended our teaching team for our dedication and encouraged us to continue innovating to guide students in building up positive values.

Last year, our students achieved remarkable results in inter-school competitions. In the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, they obtained a total of 110 awards across Chinese, English, and Putonghua categories, including the runner-up in English choral speaking for two consecutive years. Besides, in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival, our English drama team was awarded the Adjudicators’ Award for two consecutive years and was invited to perform publicly at the Tuen Mun Town Hall.

In terms of facilities, we have transformed the bus stationed in our school into ‘Fantasy Art Bus’, which will showcase students’ visual art creations. Renovation projects for the school lobby, covered playground and assembly hall were also completed, providing ample space and platforms for students to engage in music, dance, sports and other diverse activities that highlight their talents.

In the new academic year, we will continue refining our curriculum and assessment policies. We will also participate in various school-based support programmes in collaboration with the Education Bureau and tertiary institutions, aiming to comprehensively enhance students’ language and arts abilities. We remain committed to advancing Buddhist Wing Yan School’s ‘FUN’ teaching philosophy and to providing high-quality educational services to children in the Yuen Long district.
